Spinal Manipulation Therapy
ASTYM®
Spinal Manipulation Therapy
- This physical therapy treatment does not focus on maintenance of spinal alignment, or correction of spinal subluxations, rather it provides a means to reduce pain and restore functional motion by restoring the normal mechanics of the joints of the spine. A high velocity, low amplitude thrust (HVLA) mobilization can be used to specifically target dysfunctional joints in the spine. An audible “popping” or “cracking” sound is often heard with these techniques. This treatment is not chiropractic care, When your symptoms resolve, care is completed. If symptoms return, care may resume without referral from a physician.
ASTYM®
- ASTYM is a heavily researched system that has unique protocols for treatment of specific musculoskeletal injuries, and very precise anatomical structures. Utilizing specialized tools, soft tissue structures (muscles, tendons, ligaments, etc.) are mobilized, stimulating the body to initiate a healing inflammatory response. Protocols provide consistency in treatment and reduce the risk for injury or adverse events during care. Research shows this treatment to be effective in reducing pain in greater than 90% of cases documented. Treatment duration is typically 4-5 weeks, for a total of 8-10 sessions when used as a stand-alone treatment. Treatment time may be significantly shortened when used in conjunction with dry needling and joint manipulation, as well as a home exercise program. This treatment is an excellent option for tendonitis problems (tennis elbow, golfer's elbow, Achilles tendon issues etc.), plantar fasciitis, back pain and other forms of muscle, tendon, ligament or myofascial pain,
- An alternative to acupuncture, this treatment philosophy utilizes small needles inserted into specific anatomical structures (not acupoints). It is not Traditional Chinese Medicine or acupuncture. It is an evidence based, science backed, medically researched treatment system. It does not attempt to move body energy (qi - pronounced "chi") along meridians or treat health and function of internal organs, but is used explicitly for the treatment of musculoskeletal injury and pain by reducing trigger points, improving blood flow and stimulating healing in the body by inducing a localized inflammatory response, eliciting the body’s natural healing response.
